Jefferson Land Trust’s Hundred-Year Vision

« Click image for popup view » JLT Conservation Plan Jefferson Land Trust celebrates a milestone achievement this month: After five years of work, JLT’s Conservation Plan, a long-range, hundred-year vision of conservation in Jefferson County, is finally completed. As Jefferson Land Trust Executive Director Sarah Spaeth says in the introduction: “This conservation plan identifies our conservation priorities, and sets forth the bold actions we must take to be most effective at preserving the best land we have left, before the open spaces and landscapes we enjoy today are erased. . . . This plan is a wonderful tool, let’s use it as a springboard for conservation work that is as astounding as this land we love!” The Conservation Plan represents ideas, information, and expertise from the many individuals and organizations—public and private—who participated in working group and public meetings throughout Jefferson County to help determine the shape of this plan over the past five years. This Conservation Plan will serve as a blueprint for Jefferson Land Trust’s priorities and actions for the next century. It will help inform JLT’s participation in a wider, cooperative Olympic Peninsula conservation agenda as well as guide the Land Trust’s actions in Jefferson County proper. Hard copies of the plan will be available for a nominal fee to cover printing costs. The entire document is also available here on the website.
