Heidi Eisenhour
Executive Director

Heidi is responsible for overall organizational management.
For over a decade Eisenhour has served in outreach and development capacities for regional conservation organizations and capital campaigns. From 2000-2003, Heidi served as Outreach Director for The Cascades Conservation Partnership, an ambitious campaign that raised $84 millions to protect 38,000 acres of lands in critical wildlife corridors along the Cascade crest in Washington. She has also worked for Pacific Marine Conservation Council, Northwest Maritime Center, 1000 Friends of Washington and The Nature Conservancy of Washington. She graduated from The Evergreen State College with a BS in Environmental Science in 1994. Outside her professional life Heidi loves to cook and is known for her tamale making habit. Heidi has called Jefferson County home for nearly 25 years. She lives in Port Hadlock with her husband David and her dogs Roux and Rosie.

Sarah Spaeth
Conservation Director

Sarah manages the work that is at the core of the land trust mission—our land projects. She works closely with land owners and community members, as well as governmental and non-profit agencies to shepherd all of our land projects through to protection.
Sarah joined the Land Trust in 1996 while working on the Quimper Wildlife Corridor project. Prior to that, she consulted on coastal zone management issues. Sarah has a passion for a sense of place and through food this has led her to careers in cooking on charter boats and owning a bakery. Sarah holds a masters degree in Coastal Zone Management from the University of Washington and a BA in Biology from Western Washington University.

Barbara Arnn
Office Manager

Barbara manages day-to-day administrative duties in the Jefferson Land Trust office, provides support for JLT staff members, and serves as liaison for JLT volunteers. Before joining the Land Trust, she worked in several areas, ranging from field archaeology to academics (medieval Japanese cultural history), and from publishing to freelance writing and editing. A common denominator throughout these experiences has been an abiding interest in open spaces, conservation, and gardening and farming.

Nancy Newman
Systems Manager

As Systems Manager, Nancy's duties include LTA accreditation application coordination:organizing policies research and drafting as needed, coordinating and staffing related meetings, providing regular updates to the board, and ensuring the filing of a complete application for accreditation; office systems management: coordination of paper and electronic files systems, management of procedural records, and other systems coordination; support to development of land projects file systems and procedures.
Nancy retired to Port Townsend after a career in academic administration at San Jose State University in California. She has graduate degrees in art and law. Locally, she has served on the Farmer’s Market board, is on the PT Arts Commission board and works with COASST (Coastal Observation and Survey Seabird Team). She has an art studio at home where she strives to spend as much time as possible.

Kristin Axtman
Development Manager

Kristin implements development activities and provides outreach support for the land trust.
Prior to joining the land trust, Kristin did organizational and leadership development consulting for firms in New York City, the Center for Creative Leadership and Outward Bound Professional. Kristin has a MA in Organizational Management. When not at the land trust, she helps her husband and toddler build their house.

Erik Kingfisher
Stewardship Director

Erik manages the conservation agreements and the protected properties of JLT. He works with landowners and partners to monitor, protect, and restore conservation properties in which JLT holds an interest. Erik has been involved in the land trust movement since 2003 and brings a breadth of conservation project experience as well as non-profit management skills to the JLT team. With a BA in environmental education, he spent several years on the Olympic Peninsula working as a naturalist, guide and educator, after which he achieved his MA in Environmental Politics.
